06: Bellerive
Hollywood Regency revival in Midtown KCMO
Originally opened in 1921, the Bellerive Hotel was the largest luxury hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. Throughout the 1950’s and 60’s the hotel and its club, El Casbah, were a top destination for both city visitors and residents alike. After decades of neglect and degradation the hotel was restored, renovated and converted into a luxury apartment building. The result of which is a mix of historic restoration and reference, as well as contemporary architectural and graphic solutions. The canopy sign and its lettering are both a reference to the Hollywood Regency style that is prevalent throughout the building.
